The Universities Association for Lifelong Learning (UALL) and The Standing Committee on University Teaching and Research in the Education of Adults (SCUTREA) are delighted to announce that this year’s conference theme is:

 

Thinking globally and acting locally for lifelong learning. 

 

This collaborative conference will bring together practitioners, activists, academics, and policy makers from across the globe to focus on research, policy and practice, with innovation in lifelong learning and adult education at its heart.

 

The conference sub-themes are:

  1. Lifelong Learning for a changing world, including:
  • innovations arising from global and local challenges
  • shifting practice responding to new priorities of governments whilst keeping adults at the heart of the provision
  • imperatives for different forms of LLL and adult education
  • the role of place and equitable exchange of knowledge

 

  1. Inclusivity and Social Justice, including:
  • addressing the needs of different populations/groups through responsive practices
  • ensuring equity and inclusivity in changing learning environments and technologies
  • democracy, citizenship, and the “permanent national necessity” of adult education
  • responding to the human impacts of war, climate crisis, migration, and displaced persons

 

  1. Innovation and change, including
  • innovative practices that address the great challenges facing societies
  • new ways, modes, and areas of study
  • new partnerships to innovate and engage adults and lifelong learners
  • innovations in access, engagement and participation

  • Register using an institutional Purchase Order by emailing admin@uall.ac.uk and provide full booking details for each delegate covered by the purchase order.

 

Accommodation options: please book this separately. The Portal provides information on accommodation options at discount rates (see More Information tab). If you choose University accommodation, please book as soon as possible, as availability is limited.

 

UALL member: this category is for delegates from institutions or individuals who have a paid membership of UALL. If unsure, please check with admin@uall.ac.uk 

 

Bursary: SCUTREA will offer a limited number of small bursaries to help out participants in need. Please send requests by email, including a justification for the bursary, to the UALL Administrator, Zulema Jimenez Perez (admin@uall.ac.uk), by 17th May 2024. You should expect to hear the outcome of your bursary request by one month from the deadline.
